A plasma display device is provided to prevent an upper portion of a barrier rib from being etched by protecting the upper portion of the barrier rib using a black layer. An address electrode(120) is formed on a lower substrate(110). A barrier rib(210) is formed on the lower substrate. A black layer(220) is formed on the barrier rib. The barrier rib and the black layer are made of a photoresist material. A thickness of the black layer is 0.5 mum to 0.8 mum. The black layer includes cobalt oxide or rubidium based metal particle. A size of the cobalt oxide or rubidium based metal particle is 5 nm to 50 nm. The barrier rib and the black layer include a barrier rib paste layer and a black paste layer. Black paste is laminated on the barrier rib paste and exposed at the same time to form the barrier rib and the black layer. The black paste includes the cobalt oxide or the rubidium based metal particle.
