A method for preparing a separator plate of a fuel cell is provided to form a nickel coating layer on a separator plate through an inexpensive and simple process. A method for preparing a separator plate of a fuel cell(100) includes the steps of: mixing a nickel oxide powder with a vehicle to prepare a coating composition; coating a separator plate with the coating composition; and heat-treating the coated separator plate in a reductive atmosphere. The nickel oxide powder has an average particle size of 20 micron or smaller. The vehicle is mixed with 100 parts by weight of the nickel oxide powder in an amount of 10-40 parts by weight.
