A device and a method for controlling overload of a frontloading washing machine are provided to stop a drum and output an error of a water supply valve if the sensed water level is over a set water level. A device for controlling overload of a frontloading washing machine comprises a water level sensor(20), a drive motor(40), an error output unit(50), and a microprocessor(10). The water level sensor senses the water level in a drum. The drive motor rotates the drum. The error output unit alarms an error of a water supply valve(30). The microprocessor stops the drum by controlling the drive motor after a predetermined time, sensing water level using the water level sensor, and alarming the error of the water supply valve by controlling the error output unit if the sensed water level is over a set water level. |
