A plasma display apparatus is provided to improve the strength thereof by forming plural dielectrics whose thermal expansive coefficients are different from each other on an upper substrate. A pair of sustain electrodes(11,12) and a dielectric are formed on an upper substrate(10). A lower substrate(20) is arranged to be opposite to the upper substrate. An address electrode(22) is formed on the lower substrate. The dielectric is comprised of a first dielectric and a second dielectric. The second dielectric has a different thermal expansive coefficient from the first dielectric. The first dielectric has a thermal expansive coefficient lower than that of the second dielectric. The first dielectric and the second dielectric are sequentially laminated on the upper substrate. The thermal expansive coefficient of the first dielectric is 0.0000075 or 0.0000080.
