A display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to inhibit the deterioration of a reflection property by a reflection member, thereby realizing the display device with a high reflection ratio. A display device comprises plural pixels(40) having a reflection member(5) and a transmission member(6). A device layer(11) is formed on a substrate(10). A planarization layer(12) is formed on the substrate and coats the device layer. A gap control layer(15) is formed on the planarization layer. The reflection member comprises an area including the device layer, the planarization layer, the gap control layer and a reflection electrode formed on the gap control layer. The transmission member comprises an area including the planarization layer formed on the substrate except for the gap control layer forming area. The planarization layer has a flat surface at the areas for forming the reflection member and the transmission member. A pixel electrode is formed on the planarization layer and connected with the device layer through a contact hole formed at the planarization layer.
