<p>The present invention relates to a method for detecting the location of a vehicle (3) in an area, wherein the vehicle (3) has at least one On-Board-Unit (4) assigned to it and at least one enforcement unit (1) for sending signals to and/or receiving signals from the On-Board-Unit (4) is provided. The method is characterized in that the communication channel (7) for communication between the at least one On-Board-Unit (4) and at least one enforcement unit (1) and/or the characteristics of the area (8, 9, 13, 14) covered by the enforcement unit (1) are set in accordance to the conditions within the area (8, 9, 13, 14) to be covered and/or the nature of the enforcement unit (1). The invention also relates to an OBU and an enforcement unit (1) for the described purpose.
