The industrial truck has a steering drawbar (7) tilting around a horizontal axis (11), an operating brake device and medium for continuous detection of tilting angle of the steering drawbar around the horizontal axis. The operating brake device is formed such that the braking action is adjusted against the tilting angle, tilting speed and the tilting acceleration of the drawbar around the horizontal axis. The industrial truck has a traction motor, particularly an electrical traction motor, which is formed as operating brake device.
