A circuit and a method for driving an LCD device are provided to reduce a driving frequency to half thereof by utilizing an interlace scheme when gate lines are driven in a gate driver. A circuit for driving an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a timing controller(21), gate and data drivers(22,23), and a liquid crystal panel(24). The timing controller outputs control signals for controlling the gate and data drivers. The gate driver separates odd and even numbered gate on signals from a gate on signal using an interlace scheme when the gate on signal is supplied to respective gate lines of the liquid crystal panel, and sequentially outputs the separated gate on signals. The data driver supplies data signals to respective data lines of the liquid crystal panel. The liquid crystal panel, which is driven by the data signals and the gate on signals through the interlace scheme, displays images.
