A method for preventing collision of two lift cages movable in a common shaft of a lift installation and the lift installation corresponding to the same are provided to prevent lift cages from colliding with each other in a multiple movable lift installation. A method for preventing collision of two lift cages(A1,A2) movable in a common shaft of a life installation includes the steps of: checking an instant movement state of two lift cages through a control system of an emergency stop system(21) after actuation of a stop brake; and causing one or two lift cages to be additionally decelerated through a brake of the lift cage in case that an movement state definable emergency stop condition is satisfied.
