The engine start control system has a power supply controller (2) which includes an ignition power supply relay (14) activating an electric component of a vehicle and a central processing unit (11) controlling the ignition power supply relay (14), and a communication device (3) communicating with a portable unit (16) to authenticate validity of the portable unit and performing engine start control. Further, the system has a drive line (A) between the communication device (3) and the ignition power supply relay (14) and not routed through the central processing unit (11).
