A method for controlling an equalizer of a car audio system is provided to automatically control the level of the equalizer corresponding to the change of an air pressure measured by an air pressure measuring sensor. An air pressure is measured(S201). Equalizer levels corresponding to an air pressure condition are stored in a storage medium of an audio system for a vehicle(S203). An audio player is operated according to an audio playing signal and then the measured air pressure is compared with a preset air pressure to obtain a corresponding air pressure condition(S207,S209). A control operation is performed such that an equalizer level corresponding to the corresponding air pressure condition is employed(S211). The audio employing the equalization level is amplified and output(S219).
