A segment 10A of a seismic streamer includes at least one array 24 of sensors 32R,32F located at longitudinally spaced apart locations. A longitudinal orientation of at least one sensor is different (i.e. opposite) to that of the other sensors along the length of the array. Each sensor (e.g. hydrophone) may be disposed in a sensor holder. The sensor holders have a passage in which the sensor is disposed, and one or other end of the passage is closed, by a plug for instance, to provide acoustic isolation to the sensor in one direction. The longitudinal orientation of the sensors may alternate along the array. The sensors of the array are coupled together in series and noise transmitted axially through the buoyancy void filler (e.g. gel, curable urethane based polymer) in the streamer is attenuated. |
