Receiver with conditional decoding

摘要

The receiver has a demodulator (230) demodulating signal received from a source by a transmission channel (220) to provide an error correcting codeword. A decision unit (250) receives estimation of fading coefficient (hi) of the channel during codeword transmission and noise variance (sigma power two) or signal to noise ratio (gamma) by deducing estimation of instantaneous mutual information relative to the channel, and decides whether to carry out decoding of the codeword so that binary transmission rate of the source is higher or lower than a characteristic threshold of the information.
