A cornering situation estimation method is provided to increase cornering estimation accuracy by estimating the cornering and cornering finish situations by using a lateral acceleration sensor, a steering angle sensor, and a yaw rate sensor, instead of a wheel speed sensor. A cornering situation estimation method comprises a step for judging whether a vehicle is in a cornering situation or not, from behavior information obtained from sensors installed in the vehicle(28) and a step for judging whether the cornering situation is finished or not, from the obtained behavior information if the vehicle is in a cornering situation(36). The obtained behavior information includes lateral acceleration, yaw rate, and steering angle detected by a lateral acceleration sensor, a yaw rate sensor, and a steering angle sensor, respectively.
