A method and an apparatus for providing an air bearing with higher flying height for a lower rotating speed drive are provided to place an air channel and an air pocket in an air bearing surface to stabilize the flying height at a low speed. A disk drive comprises at least one rotating disk, a head suspension assembly, and a slider. The slider is combined with the head suspension assembly. The slider includes at least one air bearing surface formed during an etching process, and the air bearing surface includes an air channel(221) and an air pocket(220). The air channel generates greater lift in the inner diameter of the disk than in the outer diameter of the disk. The air pocket is formed by a short rail(210) and long rails(211,212).
