An expandable medical device comprising a plurality of elongated struts forming a substantially cylindrical device which is expandable from a cylinder having a first diameter to a cylinder having a second diameter; means for concentration of stress/strain arranged between said elongated struts to substantially prevent deformation of said elongated struts during expansion of the cylinder; characterized in that all of said at least one recesses are located in the struts and not located in the means for concentrating of stress/strain; wherein at least one of said plurality of struts includes at least one recess extending at least partially through a thickness of said strut.
