An apparatus for detecting a retainer for a taper roller bearing is provided to rapidly detect and sort a defective retainer by automatically inspecting the retainers. An apparatus for detecting a retainer for a taper roller bearing comprises a photographing unit(37) including a camera(38), a storage unit for storing reference data, and an inspection unit(5) including a controller for generating a control signal based on the status of the retainer. The inspection unit includes a transfer section(33) for transferring the retainer to a photographing standby position, a sorting section for sorting a defective retainer from normal retainers, and a carrier section(35) for carrying the retainer from the photographing standby position and a photographing position to the photographing position and the sorting section, respectively. |
