The invention concerns an airbag device (1) with an airbag made of a woven fabric, which is fastened to a vehicle structure, particularly above a vehicle occupant and can be filled with gas by a gas generator and, when filled, extends in front of the vehicle occupant. The invention is characterized in that a recess (31) is formed in head impact area in the airbag woven fabric whereby enabling the head of the vehicle occupant to enter therein, and this recess is closed by a covering (4) that is disconnected by a tensile stress in the air bag woven fabric. |
