A device and a method for controlling access in an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) are provided to improve stability and security of information stored in the HDD by preventing an unauthorized person from separating/mounting the HDD to other devices and using the mounted HDD. An HDD(100) stores data and storage position information, such as a FAT(File Allocation Table), of the stored data. A memory(110) stores the storage position information separately. An access controller(120) checks over whether or not the storage position information of the HDD is matched with the storage position information stored in the memory by responding to an access request signal to the HDD, and grants the access to the HDD depending on a checking result. The access controller encodes/stores the storage position information to the HDD and the memory, and decodes the encoded storage position information.
