A method and a system for providing an intelligent travel information service based on ontology are provided to enable a portable phone user to transmit a user's request by using a simple short message and receive travel information including reservation information suitable for the user's request. An intelligent travel information service method comprises the following steps of: receiving a message including at least one request for a travel information service from a client; deriving a search query by deducing the request of the client based on travel information ontology(S120,S140); searching a web document according to the derived search query(S150); verifying the search result based on the travel information ontology(S160); and transmitting the verification result to the client by using a message(S180).
