[Also in Group XXXIII] A wind motor blade comprises a metal spar and a trailing edge structure including skin panels of anisotropic material with interposed reinforcement. The Figure is a cross-section of a blade comprising a rigid leading edge spar 1 and skin panels 3, 3<SP>1</SP> bonded to the spar at 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, with a filler 4 of honeycombed paper. Alternatively, ribs of plastic material may be used as reinforcement. The panels 3, 3<SP>1</SP> are of a plastic material reinforced with glass fibres running chordwise of the blade, so that the panels have a greater stiffness in that direction than spanwise. The stresses taken by the trailing edge structure are thus reduced. |
