A mobile terminal and an operation control method therefor are provided to control operation of the mobile terminal by using short-range wireless communication, thereby notifying a user of various events. A short-range wireless communication unit(130) receives a short-range wireless communication connection demand signal. If reception frequency of the demand signal received through the short-range wireless communication unit is more than preset frequency, a controller(170) controls corresponding operation of a mobile terminal. A sound output unit(150) outputs one of a user's voice, a sound source, and a vibration sound. A memory(140) stores each kinds of data, which are inputted or outputted when a control operation for a terminal is performed, and software which controls the overall operations of the mobile terminal.
