A crankshaft of a reciprocating compressor is provided to rotate stably and to compensate the rotational imbalance rapidly by operating the inertia of a moving member toward the opposite direction to the rotation direction of a rotation shaft. A crankshaft(1) of a reciprocating compressor comprises an eccentric shaft(3), and a balance weight(4) compensating the rotational imbalance due to an eccentric shaft part at the lower part of the eccentric shaft part. The eccentric shaft, which is selectively rotated in one direction according to the driving of a driving unit, is connected with a piston and a connecting rod. The balance weight consists of a weight balance device(10) including a moving member(11) of predetermined mass moved along the rotation direction of the crankshaft, and a pair of elastic members(12,13) for elastically supporting two ends of the moving member. The balance weight also has a guide groove of an arc type to guide the movement of the moving member. The weight balance device is embedded in the guide groove.
