An image forming device and a control method thereof are provided to improve user convenience and minimize consumption such as a printing sheet by displaying an expected print image and print setting in advance when print data stored in a storage medium is printed. A data receiver(110) receives print data(210) such as a DPOF(Digital Print Order Format) file from a storage medium(200) storing the print data including print commands/information. A printing unit(120) prints the print data according to the print commands. A controller(130) enables the printing unit to print an information image based on the print information before the print data is printed. A display unit(140) displays the information image by control of the controller. The information image includes an expected print image, a file name, a file type, a print type, the number/size of print sheets, and a rotation direction of the print image.
