A composition comprising an extract of a medicinal plant is provided to alleviate contraction of an airway tube occurring in an asthma patient by promoting the activity of beta 2 receptor, thereby preventing and treating asthma efficiently. A health functional food or a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and improving asthma comprises at least one extract of a medicinal plant selected from the group consisting of Euphorbiae kansui, Anthriscus sylvestris, Croton Tiglium, Aconitum carmichaeli, Daphne genkwa, Calystegia soldanella, Sapium japonicum as an effective ingredient. Further, a concentration of the extract of the Euphorbiae kansui, the Anthriscus sylvestris, the Croton Tiglium, the Aconitum carmichaeli, the Daphne genkwa, the Calystegia soldanella and the Sapium japonicum is 1 to 10 mug/ml. |
