The assembly has a main fork rotated about a rotational axis. A drive unit comprises a hollow housing (1) concentric with the rotational axis, and a motor rotor (3) is accommodated in a motor stator (2). Another drive unit is placed between parallel pair of spaced fork arms (7) of the fork, and a rotor transmission ring (11) is placed inside a motor rotor (10). A spindle box (13) comprises an orthogonal cross-shaped structure, where arms of the rotor transmission ring are coupled with the motor rotor (10) and an arm of the structure is connected to a spindle head. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a direct drive spindle assembly.
