DOWN CONVERTOR FOR MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A down converter for a mobile communication system is provided to perform a receiving signal attenuating function and a receiving signal strength reporting function by using one detection path, thereby improving utilization of components and reducing a system size. In a down converter(120), an attenuator(121) attenuates an RF(Radio Frequency) receiving signal which is received through an antenna and amplified through a switch and an amplifier(Amp), according to control of a controller(126) or outputs the RF receiving signal without attenuation. A coupling unit(122) couples the RF receiving signal outputted from the attenuator, and outputs the coupled signal onto a detection path. A down converting unit(123) down-converts the RF receiving signal, passing through the coupling unit, into an IF(Intermediate Frequency) signal and outputs the down-converted signal to a rear stage of a signal receiving path. A detector(124) detects the RF signal, coupled by the coupling unit, through analog voltage. An A/D(Analog/Digital) converter(125) converts the analog signal into a digital signal, and outputs the converted digital signal. The controller detects and analyzes the digital signal outputted from the A/D converter, and controls the attenuator based on the analyzed information or reports the analyzed information to an upper stage.
