FIELD: textile industry. ^ SUBSTANCE: method is as follows: all loops of the left sleeve are transferred to the front needle bar with regard to body loops transferred to the rear needle bar by a number of needle pitches required for horizontal joining of body and sleeve. After that, body and sleeve loops are joined by simultaneous transfer and knitting of body and sleeve loops and sequential closing of knitted loops due to their transfer to adjacent loops of the same line. Furthermore, all loops in joined with body sleeve are transferred to the rear needle bar. Meanwhile, right sleeve loops are located on the front needle bar and body and sleeve are joined similarly to the left sleeve. Resulted joined detail consisting of body and sleeves is folded from edges moving to forepart centre due to sequential transfer of end sleeve loops to needle bar containing item front ends. ^ EFFECT: strong horizontal joint of sleeves and body details to be not distorted during wearing of hose-type knitted items with ends along lengthwise openings. ^ 6 dwg
