PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which can suppress excessive temperature rise in a non-paper passage portion, even if recording mediums of various sizes are used. SOLUTION: The fixing device 32 is provided with an endless-like fixing belt 38 (first rotating body) which is rotated in one direction (in the direction of an arrow D); a pressure roll 40 (second rotating body) which comes into press-contact with the circumferential surface of the fixing belt 38 and is rotated in one direction (in the direction of arrow E); and a magnetic field generating device 42 (magnetic field generating means) which is arranged facing opposite to the circumferential surface of the fixing belt 38 opposite from the press-contact surface of the fixing belt 38 with the pressure roll 40, wherein the fixing belt 38 having a temperature-sensitive magnetic metal layer, comprising a temperature-sensitive magnetic metal material having a Curie point, is applied, the temperature-sensitive magnetic metal layer functions as a heat-generating layer 38A, and heat generation of the heat-generating layer 38A is controlled, by using the magnetization and non-magnetization divided by the Curie point of the temperature-sensitive magnetic metal layer.
