<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure metal vapor discharge lamp easy to start and capable of aiming at reduction of unwanted light radiation, improvement of luminous efficiency, and curtailment of the number of components, as well as a lighting fixture using this discharge lamp, concerning a compact high-pressure discharge lamp of a low rated output sealing an ultraviolet radiation start-up element for start-up assistance. <P>SOLUTION: The high-pressure metal vapor discharge lamp L includes an arc tube 5, a cylindrical tube 8 made of a heat-resistant translucent material arranged so as to surround the arc tube 5, an ultraviolet radiation start-up element 7 with at least a part of it looking into the cylindrical tube, support members 4a, 4b supporting either end part of both the arc tube 5 and the cylindrical tube 8 and made of a conductor forming an outer electrode 48 of the ultraviolet radiation start-up element 7, power-feeding members 3a, 3b connected with a lead conductor of the arc tube 5, and an outer tube bulb 1 housing the arc tube 5, the cylindrical tube 8, the ultraviolet radiation start-up element 7, support members 4a, 4b, and the power feeding members 3a, 3b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
