PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp which is hardly broken by a shock or the like, can be manufactured inexpensively, and can prevent a failure due to an abnormal discharge at the end of lifetime, and to provide a lighting fixture installed with this fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp 1 is equipped with a pair of lead wires 2, 2 supporting both end sides of a filament 8, an arc tube 3 made of glass which has respectively a squeezed sealing part 11 with the pair of lead wires 2, 2 sealed at both end parts 9a, 9a and in which the pair of lead wires 2, 2 are respectively led out from the both end part 9a, 9a, and recessed parts 15, 15 recessed toward the lead wires 2, 2 are formed at a part of the outer face 11a of the squeezed part 11 so as to be opposed to the lead wires 2, 2, a phosphor film 4 formed on the inner face side of the arc tube 3, and a discharge medium filled inside the arc tube 3.
