PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target detecting apparatus improved in anti-hinderence property for detecting an object without missing it when suffering from a detection hinderence of the object to be measured. SOLUTION: The target detecting apparatus 100 comprises: an image sensor 10 which has a first pixel part 11 and a second pixel part 12 being arranged in the form of a two-dimensional matrix in a prescribed pattern and separated into two light detection levels different from each other in the range of light intensity to be detected in order to photograph a target, and in which the light detection level of the second pixel part 12 is set so as to detect light more intense than that of the light detection level of the first pixel part 11; and a signal processing device 20 which obtains positional information of the target based on respective output signals from the first and second pixel parts 11, 12. The signal processing device 20 detects the target based on the output signal of the second pixel part 12 in such the state that the intensity of received light exceeds the upper limit of the set light detection level for the whole of the first pixel part 11.
