PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular external display device capable of enhancing the visibility of an image projected on a pillar or the like radiated by the solar beam during the daytime. SOLUTION: When a winker switch 18 is turned ON for right or left turn, and if the brightness of a right pillar 4R or a left pillar 4L detected via a right illuminance sensor 5R or a left illuminance sensor 5L on the advancing direction side of one's own vehicle 2 is equal to or higher than the predetermined value, a right sunshade 8R or a left sunshade 8L mounted on the right pillar 4R or the left pillar 4L on the advancing direction side of the one's own vehicle 2 is turned outwardly so as to form a predetermined angle with respect to the right pillar 4R or the left pillar 4L based on information of the head position of a driver 11 detected via ultrasonic sensors 71-73 (S211-S220).
