PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide silica particles which can be used for an anti-blocking agent or a slipping property imparting agent for various films, various spacers for a liquid crystal display or the like, a sealing agent for various electronic parts such as a sealing agent for a semiconductor or a sealing agent for a liquid crystal, a light diffusing agent, an additive for a cosmetic product, a dental material or the like, to provide a method for manufacturing the particles, and to provide a resin composition using the silica particles. SOLUTION: As for the silica particles, an average particle diameter is within 0.01μm to 4.5μm and the variation coefficient of the particle diameters is≤50%, and the particles are subjected to surface treatment with a silane coupling agent. The method for manufacturing silica particles comprises: hydrolyzing/condensing alkoxy silane to obtain a dispersion liquid containing a silica particle precursor; subjecting the dispersion liquid to flash drying or spray drying to obtain dried silica particles; burning the dried silica particles to obtain dried silica particles; surface treating the burned silica particles with a silane coupling agent; and pulverizing and classifying the obtained surface-treated silica particles.
