Disclosed is a composition for ameliorating/preventing an adverse side effect which may occur in steroid therapy or a composition for suppressing a muscular-atrophy-related gene, which comprises isoleucine, leucine and valine as active ingredients. The composition can ameliorate or prevent an adverse side effect which may occur in steroid therapy, such as muscular atrophy, muscular pain, joint pain, impaired glucose tolerance, decreased bone metabolism, decreased immunocapacity, loss of appetite, loss of body weight and fatigability and can also prevent muscular atrophy accompanied by various diseases. The composition can also prevent muscular atrophy associated with the enhanced expression of a muscular-atrophy-related gene which is induced by glucocorticoid excess, renal failure condition or the like. Therefore, the composition is effective for improving the QOL of a patient. |
