BACKLIGHT ASSEMBLY

A backlight assembly is provided to install an optical sheet in the upper part of a prism sheet, thereby enabling the optical sheet to protect a prism array formed on the prism sheet and improve the luminance of light incident to the prism sheet. A backlight assembly(100) of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device comprises a lamp(141), a light guide plate(120), and an optical member(110). The lamp emits light. The light guide plate guides the generated light. The optical member is disposed in the upper part of the light guide plate to diffuse or concentrate the light emitted from the light guide plate. The optical member is comprised of a diffusing sheet(112), a prism sheet(114), and an optical sheet(116). The diffusing sheet diffuses the light. The prism sheet refracts and concentrates light. The optical sheet protects the prism sheet. The optical sheet includes a body portion and plural convex portions. The thickness of the convex portions is getting thicker from the edge to the center.
