COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF TUMOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition of matter comprising a substance useful for the diagnosis and the treatment of tumor in mammals and a method of using the composition of matter comprising such a substance for the same purposes.

SOLUTION: The identification of various cellular polypeptides which are expressed to a greater degree on the surface of one or more type(s) of cancer cell(s) relative to on the surface of one or more type(s) of normal non cancer cell(s) is described. All of the above polypeptides are herein referred to as Tumor-associated Antigenic Target polypeptides (TAT polypeptides) and are expected to serve as effective targets for cancer therapy and diagnosis in mammals. The present invention provides an antibody that specifically binds to any of the above TAT polypeptides.
