PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print a label indicative of contents stored in a recording medium on a surface of the recording medium. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus 100 is provided with a medium information acquisition part 101, a calculation part 102, a detection part 103, a printing state judgment part 104, a label information generation part 105, a label printing part 106, and a medium information update part 107. The media information acquisition part 101 acquires medium information 111 from a CD/DVD disk 110. The calculation part 102 calculates a disk capacity of the CD/DVD disk 110. The detection part 103 detects whether the CD/DVD disk 110 is rewritable. The printing state judgment part 104 judges whether disk information and album information have been printed on the surface of the CD/DVD disk 110.
