<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a message signing method, requiring no conversion of a document structure when use after singing even if a postscript is added to a message with electronic signature. <P>SOLUTION: A signing object extraction part 11 of a computer A10 extracts a document element belonging to a specific name space as a signing object from a message composed of a plurality of document elements constituting a structured document, which is read from a storage part 13. A signature assignment part 12 assigns an electronic signature to the signing object extracted by the extraction part 11. The signature assignment part transmits the message with the electronic signature to a computer B20. A postscript information determination part 21 of the computer B20 receives the message with the electronic signature from the computer A10, and determines whether the postscript information belongs to the specific name space or not. When the postscript information does not belong to the specific name space as a result of the determination by the determination part, a postscript information insertion part 22 inserts the postscript information to the message.
