PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device to drive an electrophoretic display, while leaving less afterimages. SOLUTION: Since this device erases the images on the display, by applying erasing voltages between the pixel electrodes 11 and common electrodes 21 and applies a writing voltage several times between them, in order to write other images after erasing, the device can remove the images that are not completely erased in the erasing process and still remaining by carrying out another writing.
