PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument having a pointer capable of presenting a quality appearance. SOLUTION: The pointer 2 constituting a combination meter 1 for vehicles comprises a pointer main body 20 constituted of a light guide material; a pointer cap 4; a pointer skirt part 6 for mounting the pointer main body 20 to an output shaft 15; and a cap 3 for covering the pointer skirt part 6. The pointer cap 4 comprises both a pointer-part covering part 41 formed in a shape along the contour of a pointer part 22 of the pointer main body 20 and a reflection-part covering part 40 linearly extending continuously to the pointer-part covering part 41 along the longitudinal direction of the pointer-part covering part 41. The reflection-part covering part 40 covers a reflection part 21b of the pointer main body 20 and sandwiches a base end part 21 between itself and the pointer skirt part 6.
