The assembly to stabilize the movement of a web (13), in a papermaking or cardboard production machine, has at least one belt loop (15) over the web with a deflection roller (17) forming a wedge-shape entry gap. The web is supported from below by a carrier belt (14) through the entry gap and onwards. An overpressure unit (21), at the deflection roller, detaches the web from the upper belt before the entry gap, to lie securely on the carrier belt.
