A vacuum pump having a device for preventing damage to a vane in reverse rotation of an engine is provided to discharge oil and air effectively by installing first and second oil and air drain holes. A vacuum pump having a device for preventing damage to a vane in reverse rotation of an engine comprises a vacuum pump housing(10) having a hole for supplying oil(11), a vane(30) positioned inside the pump housing, a first oil and air drain hole(13), and an air inlet(17). The first oil and air drain hole placed at one side of the pump housing discharges oil and air in normal rotation. The air inlet is placed at one side of the pump housing. A second oil and air drain hole(15) positioned at one side of the vacuum pump housing discharges oil and air in a reverse rotation of the engine to prevent damage to the vain. The second oil and air drain hole are positioned lower than the first oil and air drain hole.
