<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel preparation of fimbrial agglutinogen of Bordetella pertussis and a method for production thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A fimbrial agglutinogen preparation is prepared from a Bordetella strain, particularly a B.pertussis, by a multiple step procedure involving extraction of the fimbrial agglutinogen from cell paste, and concentrating and purifying the extracted material. The fimbrial agglutinogen preparation may be used to prepare acellular pertussis vaccine with other pertussis antigen, including pertussis toxin or toxoid thereof, 69 kDa protein and filamentous haemagglutonin and other Bordetella antigens.
