PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for readily measuring a strain (deformation) of a wood, metallic or resin material or the like by effectively using retroreflective beads. SOLUTION: In the case where a strain of an article is measured, retroreflective beads are uniformly adhered to the measuring face of the article to be measured. The surface having the adhered retroreflective beads is irradiated with a light, the reflection amount before occurrence of strain is compared with that after the occurrence of the strain, thereby measuring the strain.
