PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning system highly accurately detecting the relative position of a mobile station by the mobile station itself only by installing two base stations. SOLUTION: The mobile station 100, the object of positioning performed by the first and second base stations 200 and 300, includes a reference diffuser 104 turning a signal of an ultra wideband (UWB) system generated with a timing signal used as a trigger into a reference diffusion signal by diffusing the signal by means of a reference diffusion code (PNO), an antenna 108 for transmitting the diffusion signal to the base stations, an antenna 110 for receiving signals from the base stations, a first correlation unit 114 detecting a first diffusion signal from the received signals based on their correlation with a first diffusion code, a second correlation unit 118 detecting a second diffusion signal from the received signals based on their correlation with a second diffusion code, and a time difference measurement part 120 measuring time diffrences of the first and second diffusion signals from the timing signal.
