Drugs containing Taxiresinol, (7'R)-7'-Hydroxylariciresinol, Secoisolariciresinol and Isotaxiresinol, which are lignans contained in Hongdoushan, as the active ingredients. Drugs containing an extract, which is obtained by extracting a Hongdoushan plant with water and further extracting the obtained extract with an organic solvent, as the active ingredient. These drugs are useful particularly as a hypoglycemic agent, a liver protecting agent and an anticancer agent.
