A method for evaluating internal short circuit safety of a battery is improved to evaluate internal short circuit safety of a battery accurately by eliminating variations in evaluation results. By using such an internal short circuit causing method as the battery information obtained upon occurrence of an internal short circuit is substantially invariant for the battery structure, an internal short circuit is made to occur in a battery and the battery information at that time is detected, thereby evaluating the internal short circuit safety of the battery accurately for specifying the safety level.
