A first aspect of the invention relates to a composition for staining an object such as a bank note (including plastic-based and paper-based bank notes), the composition including a solvent, a thermoplastic resin and a pigment or dye. The composition is non-flammable and are suitable for use in canisters for use in staining bank notes that have been stolen. An advantage of the composition of the invention is that once applied to paper bank notes, it is not possible to remove the composition from such bank notes using solvents, acids or chemicals. A second aspect of the invention relates to a printing ink containing a pigment which is identifiable under infrared light at an identifiable wave length. |
