Provided are a mobile terminal device capable of sharing image data easily with another mobile terminal device, and an image selecting method. Image receiving means (104) notifies image selecting means (106) of the image data received through communication means (101), as an image record. On the basis of the decision of the image selecting means (106), the image receiving means (104) either stores the image record in storage means (105) or scraps the image record. The image selecting means (106) accepts the received image record from the image receiving means (104), and retrieves a photograph having the same composition as that of the received image record, from the storage means (105) by using featuring point comparing means (108), on the basis of the setting by policy setting means (107).
